Panel picks 3 Ind. Supreme Court finalists

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - The Indiana Judicial Nominating Commission has selected two judges and a former Indiana Supreme Court administrator as the three finalists for a vacancy on the state's highest court.

Boone Circuit Judge Steven David is a former U.S. Army lawyer who was chief defense counsel for detainees at Guantanamo Bay.

Robyn Moberly of Indianapolis is the only female finalist. She's been a Marion Superior Court judge since 1997.

Karl Mulvaney is a partner in an Indianapolis law firm. He was the administrator of the Indiana Suprmeme Court from 1984 to 1991.

The three were chosen Friday from among five men and four women interviewed by the nominating commission. Gov. Mitch Daniels will select the new justice within 60 days. Justice Theodore Boehm is retiring in September.
