Park director: Seized tigers, lion doing better

IDAVILLE, Ind. (AP) - The director of an animal rescue park says most of the tigers and other big cats seized this week from a northern Indiana animal sanctuary are doing well.

Exotic Feline Rescue Center director Joe Taft tells the Journal & Courier of Lafayette ( http://on.jconline.com/McPql3 ) some of the seven cats are in worse condition than others but none appear to have life-threatening problems.

Taft says it's not the first time his Terre Haute-area facility has received animals from Great Cats of Indiana, which is located in northern Indiana's White County near the community of Idaville.

State conservation officers seized four tigers, a lion, a bobcat and a mountain lion from the center Tuesday following complaints about the sanctuary's condition. Police found issues with its permits and investigators found sanitation and malnourishment problems.
