GOSHEN, Ind. (AP) - Former television journalist Jane Pauley says her diagnosis of having bipolar disorder at age 50 came as a shock because she had been "normal" her whole life.
The former "Today" co-host and "Dateline NBC" host tells The Elkhart Truth (http://bit.ly/Jvp63u ) the disorder was brought on by a combination of medicines used to combat depression and anti-inflammatory steroids used to cure her life-threatening hives. She says when she finally told the world of her illness, she said she felt as though she had volunteered as a role model.
The Indianapolis native will talk about living with the disorder when she speaks May 4 at Sauder Hall on Goshen College's campus during the Oaklawn Psychiatric Center's annual Spring Spectacular.
