INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Indiana Gov. Mike Pence says every Indiana resident should emulate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s commitment to our nation.
As the nation celebrated the birthday of the slain civil rights leader Monday, Pence released a statement encouraging people across Indiana "to look for ways to give back to their communities and keep Dr. King's dream alive."
Pence says King "worked tirelessly to advance the cause of civil rights for African-Americans by emphasizing that all men and women are created equal." He says King's "courage and sacrifice moved a nation and left a legacy of a more perfect union."
