LAPORTE, Ind. (AP) - Police are warning anyone who finds some cash along Interstate 94 in northern Indiana that picking it up could land them in jail.
Police say a 32-year-old man who robbed a bank in LaPorte tossed cash from his car as he fled Friday from officers during a 109-mile chase before he was arrested in Elburn, Ill.
Police say they had reports of people stopping along the highway over the weekend looking for cash. LaPorte County police Chief of Detectives John Boyd tells the South Bend Tribune ( http://bit.ly/HYBWDl ) that the cash has been reported stolen by the bank and is the bank's property.
The man is jailed on federal bank robbery charges.
