TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (AP) - Western Indiana police have searched a remote, rural area for clues in the death of woman whose body was found last weekend along a roadway.

Members of the Vigo County Search and Rescue Team using search dogs scoured ditches and tree rows Tuesday along a one-mile stretch of the Vigo-Clay county line.

The Tribune-Star reports  that a man driving home after fishing in a nearby pond spotted the woman's body Saturday evening about 10 yards off the roadway and alerted police. The woman's death has been ruled a homicide, with her cause of death due to blunt force trauma.

Investigators are trying to determine how long the body had been where it was found. Preliminary estimates range from a week to a month or more.
