BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (WISH) - A naked gunman was shot twice by officers Friday morning, Bloomington Police officials said.

Police officers went to the 300 block of East 15th Street just before 7 a.m. after receiving two different calls about the man. The first said he was cursing, screaming and setting off fireworks. The second said he was naked and firing a gun into a home.

A nearby resident captured some images of the man. See the images below.

While police investigated, Indiana University sent out an alert around 8 a.m. to students about the ongoing incident. Although police described the suspect as college-aged, IU’s alert said the man wasn’t an IU student.

Bloomington Police officials say the unidentified suspect pointed his weapon at officers, despite commands to put the weapon down. An officer shot him, but police say the suspect sat up and aimed the gun at another officer, who then also shot him.

The suspect was undergoing surgery at IU Health Bloomington Hospital.

Investigators found damage to three vehicles and the back door of a home belonging to the second person who called police.
