Teen accidentally shot in head dies

WELLS COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) - State Police say an 18-year-old man who was shot in the head while cleaning handguns with a friend on Saturday has died.

At around 1:15 p.m. Saturday the 18-year-old victim and his 19-year-old friend were cleaning handguns at a residence in the 3200 block of West County Road 600 N.

This is just outside Markle.

While cleaning, the gun the 19-year-old was holding accidentally discharged, shooting the 18-year-old in the head.

The victim was taken to a Fort Wayne hospital to undergo emergency surgery. Police say he died in the hospital Sunday afternoon.

The victim's name has not been released.
