WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) - A Purdue University scientist plans a multistate trek to do research on aging that involves old Rottweiler dogs.
Most scientists dedicated to discovering the biology behind aging study worms, flies and mice in cages.
But research veterinarian David Waters believes there's much to be learned by studying Rottweilers who have lived at least 30 percent longer than the average for their breed.
Waters plans to spend 23 days traveling the country to visit the dogs, giving them physical exams, collecting DNA samples and recording measurements. He'll observe each dog in its own
environment and question owners on what makes their dog exceptional.
