Purdue trustees to take up Daniels' pay this week

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) — The Purdue University Board of trustees is expected to approve Gov. Mitch Daniels' contract as the school's 12th president on Saturday.

The trustees' agenda published Monday shows Daniels' contract will be discussed Friday during a meeting of the trustee's compensation committee, following by a vote by the full board on Saturday.

The Journal & Courier reports few details have emerged about Daniels' contract, other than general terms similar to past Purdue presidents. A memo between the trustees and Daniels calls for a base salary "consistent" with salaries paid at peer institutions, and an incentive-based salary that rewards specific, measurable objectives.

Former Purdue president France Cordova's salary was more than $475,000 per year.

The trustees selected Daniels in June. His last day as governor is Jan. 14.
