RV factory workers fired for taking jobless benefits

GOSHEN, Ind. (AP) - A recreational vehicle factory in northern Indiana has fired more than 20 people for collecting unemployment benefits while also collecting paychecks for their jobs.

Keystone RV says it fired the workers from the Goshen factory on Monday after reviewing monthly reports from the state Department of Workforce Development for a year.

Human resources manager Timothy Edwards tells The Elkhart Truth that most of those involved were production workers and that the company hadn't faced such a situation before.

A former deputy commissioner of the state agency says it will likely investigate the double-dipping and that people caught doing so are typically allowed to repay the money rather than face jail time.

WorkOne regional president Greg Vollmer says a very small percentage of those receiving unemployment benefits commit such fraud.
