INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Over the past few weeks, Hoosiers have received text messages from out of state numbers claiming they've won a $1,000 Walmart gift card.
But the messages are a scam aimed at obtaining personal information.
After clicking on the provided website, folks are required to enter personal information, like name, address, date of birth and credit card number.
The $1,000 gift card never arrives, and, in many cases, hackers have what they need before the personal information is entered. Just going to the site may allow them access to everything done online, from websites visited to passwords entered.
Walmart says the texts are not coming from them.

You can also register on the Do Not Call registry which blocks calls and text messages.
