School to discuss on-campus meth-making

OAKLAND CITY, Ind. (AP) - A southern Indiana school district shaken by the discovery that a school worker allegedly made methamphetamine in a campus building is giving worried parents a chance to air their concerns.

East Gibson School Corp. Superintendent Franzy Fleck and Oakland City Police Chief Alec Hensley will meet Friday with parents at Wood Memorial High School to discuss the incident.

Fleck tells the Princeton Daily Clarion most people are just at a loss for words. But he says the district is moving to make sure the situation isn't repeated.

Police are still searching for Michael Shafer, a school maintenance employee accused of using a so-called one-pot meth lab in the main school building that includes the high school.

One-pots are a dangerous, explosion-prone method of making the illegal drug.
