INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Most of Central Indiana has been removed from the winter weather advisory. Most of the snow is moving towards Bloomington and Columbus.

Light snow was developing Monday afternoon and was expected to continue through New Year’s Eve and into the early morning hours, Forecast 8 meteorologist Randy Ollis said. Accumulation should reach 1 to 2 inches by morning, with a few spots getting up to 3 inches.

Forecast 8 meteorologist Ken Brewer says to watch for reduced visibility and some snow coated roads if you are heading out for New years Eve. Snow showers are expected throughout the night. Although we are only expected to have about one inch of snow accumulation.

The winter weather advisory began at 1 p.m. Monday and lasts through 7 a.m. Tuesday.

In anticipation of the snow, Indy Snow Force planned to have 90 drivers ready to be on the road starting late Monday morning. Another shift of 90 drivers were to report to work at 11 p.m., ready to work a 12-hour shift to keep roads clear.

Once snow starts piling up, the focus will be main and secondary streets, with an eye toward New Year's Eve travelers, Indy Snow Force said.

The Indiana Department of Transportation also planned to have drivers behind the wheel through the evening and night. By midday, INDOT already had trucks out pre-treating roadways with salt brine.

Temps will be around freezing most of the night.
