FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) - Oscar-winning actress and author Sissy Spacek will be the keynote speaker at an event for women at Indiana-Purdue-Fort Wayne in the spring.
The campus announced Tuesday that the actress best known for her role as the troubled teen in "Carrie" and for her portrayal of country singer Loretta Lynn in the 1981 movie "Coal Miner's Daughter" will speak April 26 at an event called "Tapestry: A Day for You."
Spacek also wrote the autobiography "My Extraordinary Ordinary Life," which was released earlier this year.
Patricia Heaton, the star of ABC's "The Middle" about a family from Indiana, was the keynote speaker last year. Other past speakers have included Marlo Thomas, Dyan Cannon, Patty Duke and Marie Osmond.
