ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. (WSBT) - According to our sister station WSBT , a St. Joseph County man accused of murder is behind bars, and it's not the first time he's been accused of killing.

Tarrance Lee, 49, was arrested Saturday afternoon on a preliminary charge of murder. Metro Homicide confirms the victim was Lee's wife.

That arrest is what brought Metro Homicide to Hickory Village Apartments in Mishawaka Saturday.

Investigators focused on an upstairs apartment in building 4228 . Neighbors say investigators had been on the scene there since early Saturday morning.

Lee has been arrested before - multiple times.

According to court documents, Lee was one of two men convicted back in 1986 in a double murder case at 505 East Corby Street in South Bend... One of the victims there had been shot to death and another man had been severely beaten and stabbed. A woman who was in the house at the time and survived also said she was shot by Lee multiple times. He was sentenced to 150 years. But he was released from prison in 2006.

In 2010, he was involved in a deadly crash while driving a semi for a South Bend trucking company. He ran a red light and his semi slammed into a van near Indianapolis, killing the van's driver.

After the crash in 2010, Lee was arrested again - this time for criminal recklessness with a motor vehicle causing death, and for false informing.
