RIPLEY Co., Ind. (WISH) - A University of Cincinnati student was killed in a car crash near the entrance of the Versailles State Park Saturday afternoon.
According to police, a 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix driven by Mark Wesley Brax, 23, of Columbia, SC was driving eastbound on U.S. 50 east of the entrance to the Versailles State Park when he lost control in the heavy rain and began to skid sideways.
The Grand Prix then skidded into the westbound lane where a westbound 2011 Toyota Highlander driven by Donielle R. Stewart, 35, of Cincinnati, OH broad sided the car on the passenger side causing extensive damage to both vehicles.
Brax was pronounced dead at the scene and Stewart suffered compound fractures to her ankles and as well as leg injuries, a police release stated.
Police believe Brax was operating his vehicle too fast in the rainy conditions, which may have caused him to hydroplane.
