FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Northrop High School's football team is pulling together to help a teammate and his family.

Noah Barbknecht,15, was paralyzed on a skiing trip in Vermont on Christmas Eve. Barbknecht was on the freshman football team at Northrop.

Noah's teammates spent their Friday night collecting money from fans during the boys and girls basketball games. They suited up in their jerseys and used their helmets to collect the money.

"I've known Noah for a couple years now and it's tragic," said Mikel Griggs, Noah's teammate. "[I have to] show support to my friend and teammate."

The team also recorded a video that will be edited and sent to Noah, our sister station WANE reports.

"I felt as the head football coach and for the program of Northrop, we had to do something for him and his family," said Tim Martone, head coach for the football team.
