FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Two adults and a child were able to get out of their home unharmed after a fire started in the family’s kitchen early Sunday morning.

The Fort Wayne Fire Department responded to 5700 block of Hartford Dr. around 1:45 a.m. to find light smoke coming from the back of the house.

The residents were outside when crews got to the scene.  A dog had to be rescued from inside.

Crews contained the fire to the kitchen where there was moderate smoke and fire damage.
