INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Light snow looks like it will make a return to central Indiana Monday night and Tuesday.

A weak fast-moving storm system from the Plains will approach Indiana Monday night and we should see scattered snow showers during the late evening and overnight hours. Steady snow was falling in western Indiana as of about 10:45 p.m., and was moving east. Scattered snow showers were forecast to last through Tuesday morning.

There may be some places that see around 1” of snow for the Tuesday morning commute. Watch for slick spots on roads for your morning commute, especially untreated roads.

“This system is different from Friday’s in that the ground this time is much colder, so any snow that falls has a better chance of sticking,” Forecast 8 meteorologist Ken Brewer explained, “Friday’s snow melted for the most part on contact, and that is why we saw little or no accumulation from that system.”

Some snow showers will linger early Tuesday before tapering off to flurries by Tuesday afternoon. Total accumulations should reach around 1”-2” across central Indiana.

Indy Snow Force announced Monday it planned to have 75 drivers on the road as of 3 p.m. Monday. Crews will salt roads and bridges when necessary and switch their focus to snow as it begins to accumulate on the snow.
