WABASH, Ind. (AP) - The City of Wabash has received a $1.8 million federal grant to help develop a new business park.
The grant announced Wednesday by the U.S. Commerce Department will be used to help the city make infrastructure improvements at the new Wabash Business Complex near the intersection of Indiana 13 and U.S. 24 about 40 miles southwest of Fort Wayne.
The Commerce Department says the city-owned, 155-acre business park is expected to create more than 500 new jobs and leverage $60 million in private investment.
The grant from the agency's Economic Development Administration will fund the construction of roadway improvements and sewer, water, and drainage facilities. The Commerce Department says businesses locating in the park will be encouraged to use green technology and energy-efficient systems.
