FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - The hundreds of people who saw Natalie Zehr standing outside at a busy intersection, holding up a sign advertising her job experience, probably thought she wouldn't find a job quickly. But, less than a week later, Zehr is now employed.
KPC Media Group hired Zehr, of Huntertown, as its Marketing and Events Coordinator. She began her new position Friday morning.
Zehr stood by the intersection of Jefferson Boulevard and Ardmore Avenue after the city's first significant snowfall on December 26 with a sign that read:
Marketing Professional For Hire
6+ years experience
College degree + Creative thinker
Traffic-stopping ideas
Zehr, who had been unemployed for nine months, has a bachelor's degree in English. She told our sister station WANE she was willing to stand outside two or three times a week if it would get her foot in the door for an interview.
Her strategy obviously worked.
Zehr had six different companies contact her the week of December 31.
