LINTON, Ind. (AP) - Construction is set to begin on an expansion and renovation project at a southwestern Indiana hospital.

A groundbreaking ceremony is planned for Friday afternoon at the Greene County General Hospital in Linton. That event will mark the start of the $6.5 million project expanding the hospital's emergency room and other departments.

Hospital executive Tim Norris tells the Greene County Daily World that the project will enhance its laboratory, radiology and physical therapy departments and pharmacy.

The county-owned hospital's emergency department will be expanded from three exam rooms to eight. The work in the city about 30 miles south of Terre Haute is scheduled for completion by mid-2013.
