A soldier from northern Indiana has returned to his hometown two months after he was shot in the leg during combat action in Afghanistan.
WSBT-TV reports hundreds of Patriot Guard motorcycle riders escorted Army Sgt. Aaron Yoder from the airport in South Bend to Elkhart on Saturday.
Yoder is taking a break from medical treatment in Texas.
Yoder was in Afghanistan as a specialized search dog handler. He was wounded during an April 9 attack when he was trying to protect his dog, Bart. The dog wasn't injured.
The 2005 Concord High School graduate joined the Army in 2006 and also was deployed to Iraq in 2009.
