INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Families facing foreclosure got a chance to get free advice that may help them hold on to their homes.

24-Hour News 8 sat down with the Indiana Attorney General to talk about a phone-a-thon hosted by the AG's office and the Indiana Foreclosure Prevention Network.

On Tuesday night Greg Zoeller was Attorney General and expert advisor.

"I'm gonna go down and cheer on the volunteers. I might take a phone call or two," Zoeller said. "This is a great opportunity for people to renegotiate a better mortgage if they are having problems."

Zoeller stopped by Daybreak to talk about a new law that lets people in danger of losing their homes have face-to-face negotiations with the institutions they owe.

The new law starts Wednesday so trained volunteers took calls Tuesday night at 1-800-233-0020.

Organizers hope that knowledge and perhaps a phone call could save some homes starting Wednesday.
