Taylorsville, Ind. (WISH) - Detectives in Bartholomew County are investigating an apparent murder suicide. On Saturday, deputies discovered the bodies 72-year-old Saundra Harter and her 51-year-old son, Greg Thomas, inside the victims' home.
The mother and son lived in a mobile home park in Taylorsville just west of I-65.
A neighbor called the mobile home park manager after noticing Harter's mailbox was not being emptied.
The manager called the sheriff's department. Two deputies then visited the home, went inside, and found the bodies along with a revolver.
Neighbors were shocked by the discovery. "It was kind of scary because it was right across the street and no one even heard anything or knew anything" said Sherri Sexton.
"They were real good people. They come down and talk to me every now and again" said Gerald Wade.
Officers say it appears the couple died over a week ago. Police are not saying who shot whom. They are awaiting results from the autopsies, which are scheduled to take place on Tuesday.
