Supporters of a statewide smoking ban have a new poll that shows public support for the rights of non-smokers.
They released the poll Tuesday morning, one day before a committee in the Indiana House votes on a bill to ban smoking in all workplaces including bars and casinos.
It shows that 64% of registered voters in Indiana support a smoking ban. The only group to oppose it is smokers.
"And even there we have a quarter of smokers who favor this law so you can see there is wide support for it," said Patrick Lanne, a pollster.
The poll found that 83% believe that second-hand smoke is a health risk.
Jim Shella's blog has more details on what the poll says about Indiana state government.
