INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - An elderly woman loss control of her SUV Wednesday afternoon and
left a path of destruction.
It all happened at around 12:20 p.m. in the 6500 block of
Ferguson Avenue
According to police, Mary Feeney, 80 had just left a hair
appointment at Hairquarters Hair Salon and was backing out of her
parking spot when her accelerator got stuck.
The SUV destroyed a gas meter and severely damaged an
architecture firm. As she backed up out of the building she drove
through a bush, hit a fence, as well as four cars. From there
Feeney went across Ferguson Avenue through a yard and into the
architecture firm again.
A witness described the chaos.
"I was just sitting in my car getting ready to pull out and I
kept hearing some commotion behind here in the beauty salon. Next
thing I know someone ran into this house, reversed it, did it
again, did it again and ran into the tree," said Sondra Henry, a
witness.
Police said as Feeney backed out of the building a second
time, she hit two more cars.
Fortunately, no one was in the architecture firm at the time.
Authorities said Feeney's car hit the exact spot where an office
desk is located.
No injuries were reported.
