GREENFIELD, Ind. (WISH) - Last week June Walker received 35 phone calls from one persistent caller. The person on the other end was a scammer after the 83-year-old’s money.
“The first man told me I won $500,000 and a new car,” Walker said.
She didn’t believe him, and she told the man on the other end not to call back. But the strange man called again, and that’s when things got interesting. Walker placed an alarm device that makes an ear-piercing sound up to the phone's earpiece.
After that surprise, she said, “He called me every dirty name in the book that you ever heard. I mean, ugly.”
After the name calling stopped, the stranger called back. This time, Walker pretended there was a police officer in the room, and, remarkably, the calls stopped.
There was some truth to that story, as Walker is a retired officer. She served 12 years on the Louisiana Police Department. It appears her training in the past helped.
“ I loved every minute of it said,” she said.
