KNIGHTSTOWN, IN. (WISH) - An Indiana State Trooper found a 6-year-old boy during a traffic stop that was reported to be abducted by his mother.
It began Saturday afternoon along State Road 109 in Knightstown when Trooper Rich Silcox spotted a car with a New Jersey license plate at a CVS Pharmacy. Trooper Silcox knew that the store had been robbed recently, so he decided to run the license plate.
The plate came back indicating the car was stolen.
Silcox waited for the man, 34-year-old James Toney, to come out of the store and then took Toney into custody for possession of stolen property and on suspicion of operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
Later in the evening, Silcox received a call from a New Jersey detective who advised him that the car was linked to a woman who fled the state with her 6-year-old child. She was wanted for abduction.
Silcox was then able to locate the woman and the missing child at a home in Spiceland.
The 6-year-old was taken without incident and turned over to Child Protective Services to be reunited with his father in New Jersey.
