RICHMOND, Ind. (WISH) - Richmond Police Department is investigating after a badly burned body was found Monday night near railroad tracks on the south side of the city.

Richmond Fire Department was called to a wooded area east of the tracks in the 600 block of South J Street at about 6:15 p.m. Monday on a report of a small fire. Firefighters found a small campfire and a deceased, badly burned man, and police were called to the scene.

An autopsy will be conducted later this week, RPD said. The investigation is ongoing.
