COLUMBUS, Ind. (WISH) - Some members of the Cummins professional staff in Columbus, Ind. received layoff notices this week, affecting white-collar workers for the first time since a move to trim the global workforce was announced in October.
Cummins announced on October 9 that it would trim 1,000 to 1,500 jobs by the end of the year from its worldwide workforce to cope with weak sales, our partners at the Republic report.
"These things are literally happening department by department as the company works through projects and priorities," Jon Mills, Cummins director of external communications, said on Tuesday.
Employees are expected to know the full extent of the layoff by mid-December.
