RICHMOND, Ind. (WISH) - A felony meth arrest has been made in Richmond after an officer stopped a car for having expired plates.
Troopers from the Indiana State Police Meth Suppression Unit from the Pendleton District were on the east side of Richmond checking Pseudoephedrine logs at retail establishments.
On their way to another business, they got behind a green Malibu on South 37th Street and saw the vehicle had an expired license plate.
Troopers noticed the driver and the vehicle were in a store parking lot earlier. They also recognized his name was one they had just encountered on Pseudoephedrine logs at some local businesses that sell that drug.
After further investigation, troopers found the subject had just purchased and was in possession of the precursors used to make methamphetamine.
Paul Anthony Roof, age 42, of Lewisburg, Ohio was arrested and charged with possession of precursors used in the manufacture of methamphetamine, a Class D felony. He was lodged in the Wayne County Jail.
Anyone with information about illegal drug use may call the Pendleton Post at 1-800-527-4752, or the Indiana State Police Drug Tip Line at 1-800-453-4756. Tips can be made and kept anonymous.
