CAMBY, Ind. (WISH) - Hendricks County police confirm a fatal accident that occurred early this morning in Camby, Ind.
Police say that accident left one male pedestrian dead. Officers say the man was walking along the road when he was struck and killed by an oncoming vehicle.
The incident happened just after 4:20 a.m. on SR 67 near 800 S in the northbound lane. That is just off Mooresville Road.
Police say the man was pronounced dead on the scene. He has been identified as 30-year-old Michael E. Battle of Indianapolis.
Police say Battle was walking in the roadway and wearing dark clothes.
The driver of the vehicle has been identified as William M. Fisher of Camby. Fisher was on his way to work when his vehicle struck Battle. He was transported to St. Francis Hospital in Mooresville with minor injuries.
There is no indication that Fisher's vehicle was off the road at the time of the crash and alcohol is not believed to be a factor in this accident.
The northbound lanes of SR 67 were closed for a bit while investigators processed the scene.
This crash is still under investigation.
