NEW CASTLE, IN. (AP) - A freak accident has killed a Yorktown plumbing contractor.

Authorities say 55-year-old Chad Unverzagt died at an Indianapolis hospital Friday after a high pressure stream of water apparently sliced his neck, causing heavy bleeding.

The Hoosier A-1 Sanitary Sewer Service employee had been called to New Castle High School.

The Courier-Times of New Castle and The Star Press of Muncie say Unverzagt was clearing a blocked line with
a high-pressure water hose at the time.

New Castle-Henry County EMS Director Ron Burns says he believes the water caused the wound.

Burns says a school maintenance worker with Unverzagt at the time wasn't injured and administered first aid until emergency responders arrived.

New Castle School Corp. Assistant Superintendent Bo Pheffer says state workplace safety officials have been notified.
