GREENFIELD, Ind. (WISH) - A 3-year-old Greenfield girl died Monday after being found unresponsive in her family’s garage on Sunday after her mother said she left her alone.
Greenfield Police officers went to the 200 block of Pixy Court on Sunday after the mother called 911.
The mother was performing CPR on the girl when officers arrived. She told police she was in the garage with her 3-year-old daughter and 8-year-old son when she and her son decided to go back inside the house. The 3-year-old didn’t want to so her mother said she could play in the garage.
When the mother returned to the garage, her daughter was hanging outside the car with her head inside the partially open driver’s door window. 3-year-old Payton Goff was unresponsive and her mom began CPR.
Payton was taken to Hancock Regional Hospital before being transferred to Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health, where she died Monday.
