Highway stop nets drugs, stolen goods

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - An Arizona man was arrested following a traffic stop Tuesday after members of the PACE Team discovered he was carrying marijuana and $70,000 in stolen Home Depot merchandise.

Steven Wang, 52, was arrested on a Class D felony possession of a controlled substance and cited for expired plates and driving while suspended.

Members of the ProActive Criminal Enforcement Team say their investigation led to the discovery of “several hundred electrical circuit breakers.” The team alleges that Wang stole the breakers from more than 20 Home Depot stores in Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, Illinois and Utah.

The investigation led detectives to Hamilton County where they discovered several hundred more circuit breakers. Investigators believe the stolen merchandise is valued at $70,000.

PACE Team coordinator Nick Ernstes reports Wang has been arrested seven time for shoplifting at Home Depot stores all over the country.

The PACE Team is made up of officers and deputies from multiple law enforcement agencies along Interstate 70 and is funded by a federal Bryne/JAG grant and is administered by the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute.

Members of the Henry County Area Drug Task Force also aided in the investigation.
