CAMBRIDGE CITY, Ind. (AP) - A food-processing company from Ohio plans to reopen an eastern Indiana plant where an organic food company had planned to have 1,000 workers before shutting down last year.

Sugar Creek Packing Co. announced Monday it plans to spend $28.5 million to expand and refurbish the former Really Cool Foods plant near Cambridge City and have it back in operation late next year.

The Washington Court House, Ohio-based company has five facilities in Ohio and Kansas and prepares a variety of raw and fully cooked products for domestic and international customers. It expects to potentially have 400 workers at the Indiana plant by 2016.

Sugar Creek bought the plant last month in a U.S. Bankruptcy Court sale. Really Cool Foods had about 130 workers when it shut down last year.
