HAYDEN, Ind. (WISH) - Rodger Ruddick of Jennings was surprised with the Distinguished Hoosier Award Saturday.
Ruddick received the award for his local history contributions, our partners at the Columbus Republic Report.
He says the award came as a surprise.
"When I got to the Pavilion, I heard my ol' buddy Pat Sullivan saying really nice things about someone. So naturally, I thought he was talking about someone else," said Ruddick.
Ruddick was the only person in attendance who did not know that people were assembled to thank him for his years of service to the community.
