WAYNE COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) - A man was killed early Wednesday after being struck by a semi tractor trailer just east of the 145 mile marker on Interstate 70, Wayne County Sheriff Jeff Cappa said.

Sheriff Cappa told 24-Hour News 8 there were two incidents

At 5:13 a.m. the Wayne County Sheriffs Department received a 911 call of a traffic accident on eastbound I-70 just east of the 145 mile marker, about five miles west of Richmond.

An eastbound passenger car left the roadway and struck a guardrail. The driver exited the vehicle and for an unknown reason, stood in the roadway and was subsequently struck by the semi tractor trailer.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

Identity of the driver is pending notification of family.
