SHELBYVILLE, Ind. (WISH) - The Guy family of Shelbyville has been found alive in Florida following a traffic stop Wednesday, sheriff's deputies there said Wednesday.

Joseph Guy, 18, is being held in the Hamilton County, Fla. Jail in connection with an escape charge from Shelby County, Ind.

Armed with information from investigators in Indiana, Sheriff’s deputies stopped one of the Guy family’s vehicles on Interstate 75 in Florida Tuesday morning.

According to the booking information for 18-year-old Joseph Robert Guy, his father Robert was driving when they were stopped by deputies. The teen was taken into custody due to outstanding warrants from Shelby County.

Joseph Guy faced an escape charge stemming from an Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department investigation that had Guy on house arrest. Guy was ordered to wear a GPS monitoring device and removed it, violating terms of his arrest Shelbyville Police Chief Bill Elliott said Wednesday.

Debra Guy was reportedly with the family. She and Robert were allowed to continue on their journey.

24-Hour News 8 confirmed earlier Wednesday that the family’s 2-year-old adopted son, Zachary, was removed from a national list of missing children.

Shelbyville Police Department said on Friday a family member reported the family of four missing on May 10. Those missing were Robert and Debra Guy, both 52; 18-year-old Joseph Guy, their son; and 2-year-old Zachary Guy, their adopted son.

Police put out the alert on the family saying they were concerned by information they learned when searching the family’s home.

The investigation led detectives to Ohio and Florida before investigators were able track the family via a prepaid cell phone they purchased during their travels.

That cell phone allowed police to pinpoint their location. The family was then located within minutes Wednesday morning.
