RANDOLPH COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) - One person died Wednesday afternoon when a truck collided with a motorcycle in Randolph County.
Motorcyclist Franklin Arthur, 74, of Union City, died in the crash, Randolph County Sheriff’s Department officials say.
Police dispatchers received a 911 call at around 3:48 p.m. Wednesday after a flat-bed truck hauling a dump truck hit the motorcycle. Police officials say the driver of the truck was coming over a hill and tried to brake. It appeared the motorcycle was about to turn.
The collision happened on State Road 227 near County Road 600 South. The intersection was closed for about four hours while the crash was investigated.
Toxicology tests are pending for both drivers, and an autopsy is being performed on Arthur to see if other medical issues may have contributed to his death.
