SHELBYVILLE, Ind. (WISH) - An unpaid suspension for a Shelbyville police officer who was arrested was extended.

24-Hour News 8 mews partner The Shelbyville News reports the Shelbyville Board of Public Works and Safety unanimously voted Tuesday to extend Officer Aaron Calvert’s leave.

Calvert was arrested on March 10 for allegedly driving his personal vehicle into a utility pole. He was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated and operating a vehicle with a blood alcohol content above 0.08 percent.

He was placed on leave for five days before the extension.

A special prosecutor out of Johnson County will decide on formal charges. Once the case goes through the courts, the police department will launch an internal investigation.
