HANCOCK COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) - Nearly $5 Million worth of cocaine was seized by PACE Team members Wednesday along Interstate 70 in eastern Indiana.
Members of the Proactive Criminal Enforcement Team were patrolling the interstate when Officer David Glover noticed a vehicle weaving in the eastbound lane. Officer Glover stopped the vehicle and discovered the driver did not have a license and the car’s registration was open.
More members of the PACE Team were called to the scene to conduct a search of the vehicle. Hancock County Sheriff Sergeant James Goodwin and his K-9 partner Cane along with assistance from Hancock County deputy Nicholas Ernstes located 24 Kilograms of cocaine hidden in the dashboard.
The PACE Team members quickly discovered another vehicle was involved in the drug operation. Fellow PACE member and Greenfield Police Officer Chris Borgman located the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop.
The PACE Team descended upon the vehicle and found another 24 Kilograms of cocaine.
Officers arrested Hectore E. hurtado and Pete Ambrocio on drug charges.
