GREENFIELD, Ind. (WISH) - The Greenfield Police Department says they are conducting a homicide investigation after three people were stabbed, one fatally, early Sunday morning.

Police say they found 26-year-old Steven Rogers of Indianapolis at 14 N. Broadway Street in Greenfield just before 7:00 Sunday morning, dead of apparent stab wounds.

They say 26-year-old Colby McKneely and 27-year-old Jessie Parsons of Greenfield were found later, not at the N. Broadway residence, also suffering of stab wounds.

Both were taken to area hospitals. Police say Parsons was treated and released.

Investigators haven’t yet released a motive in the stabbings, and they haven’t yet charged or arrested anyone.

They told 24-Hour News 8 Sunday the public is safe at this time.

“I am comfortable that we have all the parties involved identified, and we know their whereabouts,” said Greenfield Police Chief John Jester.

It’s been five years since the city has seen anything like this. Greenfield’s last murder was back in 2007. That was a drug-related shooting on North Spring Street.

Those passing by the scene Sunday said this was difficult to process.

“That’s shocking to hear in this community here. It’s a pretty peaceful area,” said resident Andy Sirosky. “I just feel for the people, this close to Christmas, that have something like that happen to them.”

Police ask if you have information on this crime, call the Greenfield Police Department.
