RUSHVILLE, Ind. (WISH) - A postman was in the right place at the right time while delivering the mail.
Mike Pierce was delivering mail when he approached a woman's home and heard her asking for help. He thought he heard her saying that she broke her hip and needed help. Additionally, the woman said she had left something on the stove and was sure it was burning.
Our partners at the Rushville Republican report Pierce went inside the home to find a kitchen full of smoke. He quickly called the woman's daughter.
While waiting for responding crews to arrive, the woman told Pierce she had been outside for over an hour.
Rushville Postmaster Kelly Lanning says he surely saved not only the woman, but a home in danger.
