SHELBYVILLE, Ind. (WISH) - An infant was hurt at a Shelbyville home on Thursday, and police say they’ve detained a man for theft.

Officers from the Shelbyville Police Department went to the home in the 200 block of West South Street after a report that an infant was injured.

Shelbyville Police officials say the infant required medical attention and was taken to Major Hospital in Shelbyville before being transferred to an Indianapolis hospital for treatment. People in the home told police the infant fell off a couch.

Police officials say they arrested a resident of the home, Bradley Parsons, on a preliminary charge of theft. It wasn’t clear how or if that connected to the infant’s injuries.

The investigation was characterized as open and “in its early stages” by Shelbyville Police.
