SHELBYVILLE, Ind. (WISH) -

A man is under arrest for the Shelbyville shootings that took place on January 7.

On Wednesday afternoon, Indiana State Police arrested Lyman Wayne Dawson, 23, of Whiteland, Ind. at his residence on a warrant.  Shelby County Prosecutor Kent Apsley has charged Dawson with 17 felony counts and one misdemeanor.

On January 7, witnesses reported a man with a gun trying to break into a car just north of Colescott and Harrison Street in Shelbyville.  Shots were later fired as officers said Dawson shot a man in the leg before firing at police.

Dawson was reportedly then shot by Shelbyville police officers.

The whole ordeal encompassed several Shelbyville blocks.

Dawson is being held at the Shelby County Jail without bond.
