HENRY COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) - A Knightstown High School senior died and five other people were injured Tuesday night when two vehicles collided in Henry County, the sheriff’s department said.

A pickup truck driver was northbound on Henry County Road 400 West when he said he didn’t see a stop sign at the intersection with Ind. 234, passengers. His pickup struck a car.

Both drivers of the vehicles and two passengers in both vehicles were injured. Jacob Chew, the driver of the pickup, was taken to Henry County Hospital with broken bones, and his two passengers were taken via medical helicopter to St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.

One of those passengers, Patrick Chew, 19, died at the hospital Tuesday. He was set to graduate Sunday. Ramond Perkins, 19, was in critical condition Wednesday.

The driver of the car, Chrystall Hooper, was taken to Henry County Hospital before being transferred to IU Health Methodist Hospital because of a head injury. Her two sons, ages 7 and 12, were taken to Henry County Hospital, and one was transferred to Riley Hosptial for Children at IU Health.

Police said the crash remained under investigation.

The death of the high school senior is sending shockwaves through the town.

"Reality strikes really quickly and brings everything to a screeching halt," said Scott Richie.

Knightstown High School's Class of 2012 is planning a tribute to their classmate during graduation Sunday.
