RUSH COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) - St. Luke's United Methodist Church will hold a prayer service Thursday night for church members still missing in Haiti.
Milroy United Methodist Church in Rush County held a similar service Wednesday night.
Milroy and St. Luke's sent a total of nine people to an orphanage and school in a remote village 25 miles from Haiti's capital, arriving the day before the quake.
Church members believe it's possible the group is simply cut off from communication and the single mountainous dirt road to the village is now impassable. The mission team was taking food, medicine, even Christmas presents to the orphanage.
St. Luke's member Bill Chin's wife and son are on the trip.
"We're trying to do everything we can,” said Chin. "Trying to keep hope up. I'm optimistic that they're well. The good news for me is that if I don't hear anything we're just taking it as good news."
Chin's family has been using social networking sites like CNNiReport to reach out to anyone who may have seen the pair.
